Matt and his wife, Ariel, have two children, Joshua and Sofia, who attend East Pennsboro schools. He is also a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12404, and part of the West Shore Harrisburg Elks Lodge 2257.
"Making East Pennsboro Township more affordable and accountable to the citizens are top priorities. The current Republican majority has doubled township property taxes over the past eight years – a more than $2 million increase -- with a more than 20 percent increase this year alone. In addition to taxes, the current board has dramatically raised fees for just about everything, from trash collection to stormwater to park pavilion rentals and more. We’re paying more for less services. It must stop. And yet, the current crowd is planning to build a completely unnecessary, taxpayer-crushing new township building that will cost our residents untold millions. I have joined with Patti Gilbert and Jon DeMartyn in this race in pledging that we will put a stop to this new costly township building and bring to a screeching halt the cycle of repeated township tax and fee increases. No more township tax and fee increases! Additionally, we’re going to make sure our township is more transparent and welcomes citizen input by eliminating current restrictions on public input and by live streaming the township meetings like many other municipalities have already done."
